Casual public performance licence
★If you chose to perform recitation or voice drama, please read carefully.
1. What is the casual public performance licence?
Any literary works and music are protected by copyright. The casual public performance licence gives you the right to play/ perform music or recitation of literary works in public.
2. Why do we need to apply for the casual public performance licence?
The voice festival is a public performance.
We want you to perform your stage act without limitations. Therefore, we need to get a license to play/perform the music & literary works in this event.
For music, the license fee is charged as per event. For example, the license fee is $83.00 per event as of Jan 2019. So, we will use the part of your performance fee to obtain the license.
However, the license for literary works is charged per piece of work. Also, the cost of the license fee is different depending on the author. For example, the license fee of Yasunari Kawabata is 3000yen, Haruki Murakami is 5000yen.
For performers who want to play recitation or voice drama, we will ask you to be ready to pay the license fee of the literary work.
3. What should I do if I want to perform recitation or voice drama?
You can find literary works which are out of copyright protection period, hence no licence fee is required.
Please refer to the site: http://hi.fnshr.info/2018/01/01/2018-pd/.
If you want to know more about the license fees, please refer to THE JAPAN WRITERS’ ASSOCIATION website. (http://www.bungeika.or.jp/procedur.htm).
Or please contact us (voicefestivalsydney@gmail.com).
4. We are here to help you to shine!
The voice festival-Sydney is different from the other music festivals.
The character of this festival is very special as we present any performance using “Voice” such as the recitation of literary works and voice drama.
We challenge and encourage you to explore different performance arts using “Voice”! There are so many ways of entertaining with the voice such as recitation, drama, Rakugo, Utai, Manzai, and talk.
If you want to have help finding how to chose a theme, how to arrange your stage performance, how to display, how to prepare, and voice training, we are here to help! Please do not hesitate to ask.
